2. MODERN BUILDINGS only look good in photographs

Imagine that I was in the rear passenger seat when I took the picture, asking myself, why? Why are the panels surrounding the stadium all lit up? This is purely for effect - an aesthetic effect - given it is only about looks. What it might actually mean brings on all kinds of confusing thoughts to the head on a person convinced that architecture means something else altogether, being as it is, a specific word.

The photograph can be measured only in length and breadth but not the depth. In architecture depth is the crucial component in what we call 'volume'. I believe the word 'architecture' is used metaphorically in computer science. What they really mean is 'structure' but the language makes it architectural.

Everything has a structure and being well organised logistically is important for the smooth running of daily lives. All shall be fed but, how well, is wholly another issue. Communication can only occur if the meaning of what is said is clear, fitting as it does, some congenial pretext for some elocution in the living.
